Little Blue Penguin
Korara
Eudyptula minor
The smallest of all the penguins Little Blues are quite
common and will often be sighted between Ulva and Golden
Bay, and we regularly see them cruising quite close to the
beaches. They seem quite a social bird and we often see
considerable numbers in "rafts" at sea.
Their harsh morning departure calls are often heard in the
village as they nest quite close to houses and even under
them if they can.
Their tracks can be found on many of our sandy beaches in
the morning from July through January or even February.

Blue Penguin .
Their moaning, shrieking calls once heard are
never forgotten, especially if they are nesting under your
bedroom. |

These two birds were filmed right in the village |
